Daily Center

ASTRA Daily Center is an idea that has arisen as a result of our work so far, based on direct experience in work with victims of human trafficking, our clients’ wishes and the assessment of their needs. Through direct contact with clients on one hand, and with institutions and the NGO sector that are providing assistance to (potential) victims on the other, we have learned about the insufficiency of systematic rehabilitation programs for (potential) victims of human trafficking. We may say that ASTRA Daily Center builds on our previous activities, but also represents a new form of assistance and support for our clients.

The main emphasis is placed on therapeutic work with persons who survived violence in the trafficking chain. A great portion of ASTRA Daily Center’s work will focus on potential victims of human trafficking, offering them different forms of preventive-educational activities.

Regarding experiences and needs of (potential) victims of human trafficking, activities to be offered in ASTRA Daily Center include:

- encouraging return to the education system,
- continuous therapeutic work,
- self-help groups,
- Art Workshops
- planning free time and encouraging creativity,
- educative workshops,
- learning different life skills,
- developing self-confidence and self-esteem,
- economic empowerment.

The basic purpose of ASTRA Daily Center is a coordinated implementation of carefully planned and designed preventive-educational activities and the provision of systematic professional help during the recovery of trafficking victims. Priority is given to a holistic, interdisciplinary approach, with further monitoring and analysis of work in ASTRA Daily Center, aiming at timely identification of current needs and problems that our clients are faced with. An integral part of everyday work is permanent promotion of positive values, such as openness, solidarity, tolerance and responsibility. The goal is to make an encouraging atmosphere and a safe and healthy place for our clients and their children.

The schedule, frequency, duration, as well as the introduction of new activities will be planned and developed in cooperation with clients; also, they will be changed and modified depending on beneficiaries’ needs.

ASTRA Daily Center has been founded with a view to contributing to the process of recovery and reintegration of those trafficking victims who are not included in the existing assistance programs. ASTRA Daily Center is designed as a meeting place where (potential) trafficking victims, regardless of their gender, age, nationality, religion or race, could enjoy different forms of assistance of significance for their psycho-physical recovery and resocialization.

As reintegration is one of the weakest links in the chain of victim assistance in Serbia, our goal is to provide comprehensive victim assistance by promoting new forms of work, as well as to point out to new models and best practices that could be implemented.
